Refractive index sensor based on plasmonic D-shaped photonic crystal fiber with pyramid grating

Abstract In this work, highly sensitive D-shaped photonic crystal fiber (PCF) sensor with plasmonic pyramid grating is introduced and analyzed. The sensing mechanism depends on the coupling between fundamental core mode surface plasmon around grating. resonance frequency analyte refractive index (RI) which can be employed to detect RI changes. geometrical parameters of proposed PCF gold are studied enhance sensitivity. simulation results obtained using full vectorial finite element method. suggested has higher sensitivity 5200 nm/RIU than 3340 conventional design through range from 1.355 1.385. Therefore, reported used for basal cancer cell detection normal cancerous cells’ indices 1.36 1.38, respectively. Additionally, linear performance achieved design.
